    PARTICIPANTS MUST ARRIVE TO US ON 4/1. Schedule is 4/1: Arrival to Norfolk, Transfer to Elizabeth City. 4/2: Orientation, Social Security Office Visit, Transport to Housing. Participants will be required to handle all types of food in various roles. Please be sure you have no allergies or
    restrictions that will prevent you from handling seafood, meat (pork), dairy, produce, etc and thus prevent you from doing your job. Second jobs may not interfere in any way with their job at Food Lion. Employer will not accommodate a second job's schedule. Finding a second job is not guaranteed.
    Couples will be scheduled as individuals based on store's staffing needs and cannot accommodate schedule requests to work together. Please see attached document for additional special requirements.

    Supermarket Associate
    All participants are hired in as Supermarket Associate Positions. Specific position in the supermarket will be determined during Orientation with Store Manager. Positions will be mutually agreed upon for best fit for participant. Once a position has been assigned, participants will be expected to work in their assigned department for the duration oftheir program. Positions and role requirements are not gender specific. All positions will
    be expected to assist in maintaining store cleanliness and thus may be required to use cleaning chemicals. This may include cleaning bathrooms, mopping floors, and other general sanitary needs. Participants should be prepared to work outside in all weather conditions. All positions will require standing for the entire duration of the shift. All Associates must provide quality customer service to customers, engage and interact with customers to create a positive shopping experience. Understand and adhere to Food Safety guidelines and procedures, adhere to all company guidelines, policies and procedures. The attached descriptions are general summaries and may not encompass all responsibilities; duties may change as instructed by management. Must meet productivity standards established by Food Lion.

    Participants are required to take a 30 minute unpaid meal break for shifts exceeding 5 hours. In addition, participants are required to take a paid 10 minute rest break. All breaks require participants to clock in and clock out according to Food Lion policy. In addition, all times for breaks/lunches are determined by the Manager on duty. May need to lift anywhere from 10 lbs - 70 lbs. Participants will need to walk and stand for long periods of time and may be required to wear a wireless communicator.

    Ability to read, write (in English) and perform basic math functions, communicate withthe customers, meet production standards established by Food Lion. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift as noted above. Must be friendly and respectful towards supervisors (male and female), coworkers,customers, and other program participants

  • Dress code :
    Clean, neat, and professional appearance. One facial piercing is permitted in addition to ear piercings. No facial tattoos allowed. Extreme hair colors are not permitted. Must wear deodorant and bathe regularly. Tattoos cannot be considered offensive and cannot cover 50% of a specific body part (ex: arm, leg) Two uniform shirts (long sleeve or short sleeve)will be provided, and additional shirts

    can be purchased through manager. Prices vary depending on location. Before you receive your uniform shirt, please wear a solid white collared shirt (purchased at local clothing stores-prices will vary depending on where you purchase from) or bring one with you. Shirts need to be tucked in. Participants must provide professional black colored pants. NO jeans, leggings, spandex, or sweatpants. Please see attached photos for reference. Black comfortable, closed toe shoes required. If participants choose to wear a belt, it must be black. Depending on the department you work in, a hair net, and/or apron may be required, and is provided by Food Lion. Should a participant want to wear a back brace or knee pads to perform job duties, participant will be responsible for providing their own. Reflective vests (also provided by Food Lion) must be worn when walking or biking to/from work and retrieving carts from parking lot. Participants working in freezers and coolers may purchase and wear gloves andjackets while performing job duties. Participants will be required to wear their Food Lion uniform shirt (short sleeve or long sleeve) or Food Lion branded outerwear at all times while working on the sales floor. AAG requires participants to wear a helmet and safety vest while biking. In addition, you are required to have working lights and reflectors on your bike.

    $200 Prior to arrival - PARTICIPANT HOUSING MUST BE IN THE SAME CONDITION AS WHEN MOVED IN (cleaned, and no damages) (*Rates are subject to change)
  • Transportation to work :
    MUST BE ABLE TO RIDE A BIKE, AS THIS WILL BE YOUR PRIMARY FORM OF TRANSPORTATION. Please note there is NO public transportation in this area.
