Housing Information
Housing
$105/week/person (*Rates are subject to change.) Rent will be payroll deducted, with the first deduction taking place on your first full pay period cycle paycheck. Housing is provided by your employer.

Dormitory style Housing is provided by the Host Company and is on site. Rooms are assigned by gender. No co-ed roommates are allowed. Couples traveling together need to be prepared they will not be able to live in a room together. Although the Housing has a housekeeping staff to assist in keeping the Dormitory clean, all participants will be expected to maintain their rooms to a clean standard and all participants should expect to assist in keeping the public areas of the dormitory clean.

Each room should expect to be given an assigned day where you will assist in the cleaning of the public areas for 1-2 hours. Your assigned day will only happen 1 or 2 times during your program depending on how long your program is.

After the payment at check in, rent will be automatically deducted from paychecks. The first deduction will take place on your first full pay cycle paycheck. You are paid every 2 weeks therefore every 2 weeks $210 ($105/week) will be deducted for rent, which includes utilities (water, electric, trash) and internet. Each participant will receive the "Dorm in a Box" package upon check in that has all the necessities needed for the first week in housing: toilet paper, kleenex, plastic utensils, coffee mug, lock, hygiene products, trash bags, laundry tokens, detergent, etc. The package cost is normally $16.00 and is payroll deducted, but this package fee is being waived until further notice.

These policies include: No smoking or alcohol in housing, No overnight guests in housing, quiet hours from 10:00pm - 8:00am, among other policies that are common in dormitories in the United States.
Housing Deposit Required
A $300 deposit will be due upon arrival and is required to move in. $50 of the deposit will be retained for an admin/cleaning fee, and the remaining $250 will be refundable at end of stay as long as all terms of the agreement are met.

Participants who leave their jobs before their original end date, or who are terminated, are not eligible for a refund of their housing deposit.

Food & Beverage/Retail Concessions

As a Food & Beverage/ Retail Concessions Team Member and Cashier, provide a genuine smile and friendly, responsive service to guests to help create a beyond expectation dining or take-out experience.  To actively participate as a team and use core values and service expectations listed in the Kalahari Promise daily.

  • This job requires someone with outstanding guest service skills, organizational skills, the ability to remain calm and friendly in stressful situations and the willingness to work with large groups of the public throughout your shift.
  • You should be able to work independently and follow directions from your manager.
  • Since you will have interaction with the guests, Advanced English is required.
  • An understanding of American Currency is required.
  • Strong math skills are necessary.

  • Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly, and courteous service at all times.
  • Must have full knowledge of the menu, food items
  • Prepare food items, deliver room service orders when necessary
  • Must be able to greet guests with energy, a genuine smile, positive body language, focused eye contact, and in a timely fashion.
  • Take orders properly as well as enter into Micros terminal accurately.
  • Tray orders with proper plate presentation
  • Follow correct cash/credit handling procedures; process orders by recording order and computing bill.
  • Be able to perform credit card and room charge transactions.
  • Answer questions about food, beverage, retail, resort services and all activities that Kalahari Resorts has to offer.
  • Cleaning kitchens, shops, and all work areas.
  • Assist in all areas of the Food & Beverage/Retail Division
  • Other duties as assigned.

Typical Schedule:

  • Schedules vary. Working weekends and holidays is required.
  • Shifts could include early morning and/or late evening hours. Weekly schedule is about 4-7 days per week with 6-8 hours per day.

Additional Hours Details:

  • Employees will average 32 hours per week. Some weeks could be more, some weeks could be less.
  • You will “average” 32 hours per week over the course of your program.

SECOND JOBS:

Second jobs are permitted, but you must be available for every shift you are scheduled to work at Kalahari Resort and your second job must not interfere with their work performance.

Participants are not permitted to start work at a second job without receiving approval from US Sponsor first.


  • Uniform consists of Shirt and a clear bag. Please bring black trousers (No jeans)
  • All retail associates require to have closed-toe black shoes

  • Following are NOT permitted: Visible tattoos deemed inappropriate by management; visible body piercing(s)
  • Males: No earrings or long hair (more than 2” over the ear).
  • Females: No more than 2 earrings per ear (Bottom part of the earlobe only).
