Shallow/Deep Water Lifeguard
◾A great way to start your journey of becoming a certified lifeguard is to be conscious of the exact responsibility of a lifeguard. The foremost duty of a lifeguard is simply to supervise and guard all waterfront activities by any means necessary. Surveillance of any ongoing aquatic activities in your designated area is crucial to ensure you are ready to respond to any potential emergencies. This is where lifeguard training comes in handy, as CPR will be necessary in a dire situation. Aside from the safety of pool patrons, you will also find yourself taking care of your respective facility. This involves conducting daily checks of the surrounding pool areas for any hazards and safety issues, ensuring complete cleanliness and protection.
◾Provide friendly customer service to waterpark guest, maintaining the standards of performance, service, hospitality, cleanliness, and safety in the pool/waterpark, responsible for communicating with guest on resort amenities and procedural standards.
◾It is important to make sure that the parks are clean for our guests. It will be required every shift to help clean up the waterparks, this includes-sweeping, picking up garbage, changing out the trash bags, making sure the tables are arranged nicely, stacking tubes, cleaning tables, and any other tasks necessary.
◾This is a physical job. You must be able to do the following:
- The ability to stand for long hours at a time
- The ability to kneel, crouch, and bend.
- The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- The ability to work in unpredictable weather: rain, wind, cooler and hot temperatures.
- The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day: sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, and drink tons water!
◾Please understand that there is chlorine in the pools to maintain a clean environment for you and the guests. Chlorine is used in swimming pool water to kill harmful bacteria. Chemicals like chlorine and bromine are added to swimming pools to fight germs. Swimming without them could be like swimming in a petri dish, exposing people to all sorts of potentially nasty microbes.
◾Chlorine and other cleaning chemicals are used specifically to kill bacteria on surfaces in the waterparks. Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be available when using or being around these chemicals. All chemicals must be used properly, so it does not cause any harm to you, your co-workers and guests.
