Our shop is located in one of the most famous tourist areas in the world, and we’re looking for energetic, dependable, and friendly team members who love working with people. You’ll learn valuable customer service, teamwork, and communication skills while helping create moments of happiness for guests from around the globe.

Positions & Responsibilities

You may be scheduled to work in any of the following roles based on business needs:

Scooper

• Prepare and serve menu items including ice cream, sundaes, and freshly baked waffle cones.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers and staff.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper product handling and frequent cleaning of work areas, scoops, and utensils.
• Provide friendly, timely service and ensure every guest leaves happy.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs (13.6 kg).

Flavor Coach

• Manage the guest line area and assist customers while they wait.
• Engage guests by explaining flavors, ingredients, and menu options.
• Create a fun atmosphere by leading trivia questions and interacting with customers.
• Learn and share knowledge about Ben & Jerry’s history and mission.

Catering Assistant

• Participate in offsite catering and special events around San Francisco.
• Help transport and set up equipment, serve ice cream, and create a quality guest experience.
• Must be flexible and comfortable working in new locations as assigned.

General Expectations

• Must be flexible and willing to work as a Scooper, Flavor Coach, or Caterer as needed, and occasionally at other San Francisco scoop shop locations.
• Be responsible for knowing your schedule and arriving on time for every shift.
• Schedules are created one month in advance. Requests for time off after schedules are posted require management approval, and staff are responsible for arranging shift coverage.
• Must be familiar with U.S. currency and possess basic math skills.
• Expect to be on your feet for your entire shift.
• Cleaning is a major part of every position, including washing dishes, wiping tables, emptying trash, and maintaining overall cleanliness of the store.
• Assist with restocking supplies and completing cleaning checklists as directed by your supervisor or manager.
• Evening and closing shifts are common. Stores may close between 11 PM – 12 AM, so you must be comfortable walking home late at night in San Francisco.
• Work schedules will include weekends (Friday–Sunday), holidays, and evening shifts.

Hours & Availability

Your employer will try to provide approximately 40 hours per week, but hours may vary. Some weeks may be closer to 32 hours, others may exceed 40 hours, depending on business needs. If you are unavailable for assigned shifts, you may lose hours and will not be given replacement shifts.
