Dell View Housing is a licensed housing accommodation. This means that the Village of Lake Delton has inspected this housing and has approved it for J1 Students. It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to live in a Licensed Housing Accommodation provided by your employer. Once you sign the job offer, you are agreeing to the housing provided by your Host Company. This facility includes the Human Resources office, laundry facility, and a community recreational room. The community room is an area for our occupants to gather, enjoy each others company, have fun, and relax.

The Wilderness Territory consists of over 600 wooded acres in Wisconsin Dells and is home to Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort, which features 444 guest rooms, 40 vacation villas, 76 Frontier Condominiums and 35 cabins. It is also home to Wilderness on the Lake which features 108 luxurious two and three bedroom condominium units overlooking Lake Delton; and Glacier Canyon Lodge, which features 460 upscale condominium units.

Combined, these three properties offer four indoor and four outdoor waterparks that total nearly 500,000 square feet – that’s over 12 football fields of extreme water fun!

Position Description:

◾A great way to start your journey of becoming a certified lifeguard is to be conscious of the exact responsibility of a lifeguard. The foremost duty of a lifeguard is simply to supervise and guard all waterfront activities by any means necessary. Surveillance of any ongoing aquatic activities in your designated area is crucial to ensure you are ready to respond to any potential emergencies. This is where lifeguard training comes in handy, as CPR will be necessary in a dire situation. Aside from the safety of pool patrons, you will also find yourself taking care of your respective facility. This involves conducting daily checks of the surrounding pool areas for any hazards and safety issues, ensuring complete cleanliness and protection.

◾Provide friendly customer service to waterpark guest, maintaining the standards of performance, service, hospitality, cleanliness, and safety in the pool/waterpark, responsible for communicating with guest on resort amenities and procedural standards.

◾It is important to make sure that the parks are clean for our guests. It will be required every shift to help clean up the waterparks, this includes-sweeping, picking up garbage, changing out the trash bags, making sure the tables are arranged nicely, stacking tubes, cleaning tables, and any other tasks necessary.

  • This is a physical job. You must be able to do the following:
  • The ability to stand for long hours at a time
  • The ability to kneel, crouch, and bend.
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • The ability to work in unpredictable weather: rain, wind, cooler and hot temperatures.
  • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day: sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, and drink tons water!

◾Please understand that there is chlorine in the pools to maintain a clean environment for you and the guests. Chlorine is used in swimming pool water to kill harmful bacteria. Chemicals like chlorine and bromine are added to swimming pools to fight germs. Swimming without them could be like swimming in a petri dish, exposing people to all sorts of potentially nasty microbes.

◾Chlorine and other cleaning chemicals are used specifically to kill bacteria on surfaces in the waterparks. Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be available when using or being around these chemicals. All chemicals must be used properly, so it does not cause any harm to you, your co-workers and guests.

  • Various other hotel job duties as assigned.
  • If an employee would like more hours or is needed in other departments there may be hours available in other departments.
  • Students should be flexible enough to work in as many of the positions as possible.

  • Schedule will vary and employees must be willing to work when employer needs them. Weekends (Friday-Sunday) and holidays required
  • Hours can vary between 7am-11:30pm.

All employees will make minimum wage for the 28 hours spent training. Wisconsin’s current minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. Once the course is successfully completed then the students will start making a minimum of $11 as a lifeguard.

Depending on swim level, lifeguards could make the following pay-rate.

Aquatics:
Waterpark Attendant – $13
Wave -$14.50


Required Duties:

  • Swim distance using front crawl (freestyle) or breaststroke without resting: 100 yards
  • Feet-first surface dive, retrieve a 10-lb. brick, and bring it to the surface
  • Tread water without using arms for 1 minute
  • Lifeguards monitor pool areas and assist guests going down slides and tube rides.
  • Must be capable of lifting at most 50lbs

Applicants must be trustworthy, friendly, and have a positive attitude! Employees have direct contact with the public and must have good people skills and be able to communicate in a fast-paced work environment. Teamwork and professionalism are needed.


Primary job uniform is provided by employer. The first lifeguard uniform is provided free of charge.

  • Men: Swim Trunk, T-shirt, Whistle, Lanyard, Visor or Hat.
  • Women: Swimsuit, Nylon Shorts, T-shirt, Whistle, Lanyard, Visor or Hat.

Possibility of Job Change: Job change is NOT likely, but if employer has a position and employee has the skills, it is possible that there may be a job change. Employees may be asked to do other job duties in addition to lifeguarding, such as housekeeping, front desk, and food and beverage, or other

You may purchase other uniform pieces at cost. Facial hair for men should be clean shaven and hair above collar length. Good personal hygiene is a must. Employees must be clean presentable and conservative in appearance. 25% off food menu items.
