JOB DESCRIPTION

Prep Cook 

A Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients and food items to support daily kitchen operations. This position works closely with cooks and other kitchen team members to ensure food is prepared efficiently, safely, and according to Kalahari’s quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, breads, and other food items.
• Wash, peel, cut, chop, slice, and portion ingredients for cooking.
• Prepare food for cooking using ovens, grills, fryers, broilers, and other kitchen equipment.
• Follow recipes, portion sizes, cooking procedures, and presentation standards.
• Set up and stock kitchen preparation areas before service.
• Check food quality and ensure ingredients are properly prepared and stored.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, prep stations, equipment, and storage areas.
• Follow food safety and hygiene procedures at all times.
• Help minimize food waste and use ingredients efficiently.
• Assist with washing dishes and keeping the dish area clean when needed.
• Work closely with cooks, chefs, and other kitchen staff in a fast-paced resort environment.
