Busser

A busser, also known as a busboy or busgirl, is an entry-level position in the restaurant industry that involves keeping tables clean and ready for new customers. Bussers work with servers and kitchen staff to ensure that guests have a clean and consistent experience. Their responsibilities include:  

  • Resetting tables: Quickly and efficiently resetting tables after guests leave
  • Clearing tables: Removing used dishes, glasses, napkins, and silverware from tables
  • Refilling items: Replenishing salt and pepper shakers, condiment bottles, and water glasses
  • Cleaning: Sweeping under tables, wiping down menus, and cleaning up spills
    Supporting staff: Helping servers with pre-bussing, clearing plates, and delivering food and drinks
  • Maintaining the restaurant: Keeping the restaurant and its perimeters clean and attractive
